I've taken a step back in time to the '80s. I'm sure my mom wore a top that had puffy shoulders like this. In fact, I know she has because her senior picture hangs in my grandparents' house and she has on a blue top with puffy shoulders that almost outdo her hair... sorry, mom, you knew I had to bring it up. While I didn't adopt the hairdo for this look, I did play up the shoulders on this look and retro feel with a few key accessories. This was another Poshmark find that had never been worn. It was listed for $99 but with my bundle savings, I got it for even less. So a brand new piece that's normally almost $200 was mine for under $100. I'd call that a big steal.
I had two pairs of shoes in mind for this look. My first thought was this pair of white Calvin Klein boots. They really play up the retro feel of this look and make a statement. My second idea was to wear my tried and true dad sneakers from ZARA, but my photographer, Stella, told me to go with the CKs. She made the right choice.
These photos were probably taken post-middle age man walking past us on the street and saying "Is this for your Instagram?" No, I would not put this much work in just for an Instagram post. It's for the ~bLoG~
Anyways... I was desperately wanting to wear this Béis transparent fanny pack. It was part of their festival collection and even though I did and probably will not ever attend any music festivals, I wanted it anyways. I love the over-the-shoulder styling as opposed to the traditional around the hips wear that this bag is intended for. It really helps to accentuate the sleeves and collar this way as well.
Would you take on a strong shoulder silhouette? Let me know in the comments!
