As you probably already know, I love ColourPop. It's a very affordable brand with quality products which is perfect for my college budget. Today I'm going to be talking about their popular Ultra Matte Lips and new Ultra Satin Lips. I don't own all of the colors available, but I'll get there eventually. ;) The only color I'm really, really wanting right now that I don't have is their Ultra Satin Lip in Marshmallow, but I will get it soon. Alright, let's get into some swatches and then we'll do a little review.
First up, we have the Ultra Matte Lips!
Solow - Neutral nude pink
I borrowed this one from my sister because this color scared me online and in swatch videos. I typically don't go for shades like this one, but I really actually do like it, so I will be purchasing this one in the future.
Lumière 2 - Dusty mauve pink
This is the liquid lip version of KathleenLights original Lumière Lippie Stix. Love the lippie, love the ultra matte.
Tulle - Dusty mauve burgundy
This has to be one of my favorite shades of Ultra Matte Lips hands down. I like darker lips much more than neutral or pink ones, so this lip is perfect (in my mind) for everyday wear.
Chilly Chili - Muted plummy brown
Another favorite of mine. Even though it is more on the brown side, it has the plum undertones which keeps it from being too brown.
More Better - Deep violet wine
To me, this is the perfect bold/bright lip. It's not too pink or too purple, it's more better.
Silhouette - Rich blue red
This shade is no longer sold on ColourPop anymore, but I thought I would include it anyways since it's in my collection. I like this shade, but it's not the first red I'd go for. I much prefer darker-toned reds.
So Ultra Matte Lips? Worth it? Well, for a retail price of $6 each, I'd say they're a great quality for the price point. I do find some of the original shades to be a little drying on the lips and sometimes ball up, but in newer shades like Lumière 2, More Better and Silhouette don't do that. I believe that ColourPop changed the formula, but I'm not 100% on this. If they did, I hope the new formula is what they're using for the original shades now as well so I don't buy more liquid lips that are going to ball up if I happen to rub my lips together. I think they have great wear, though. I don't find myself having to touch up my lip even if I'm eating or drinking.
Now onto the Ultra Satin Lips!
Magic Wand - Light nude
Again, I'm not typically a fan of colors like this, but I really like this one. It's going to be great to pair with a bold smoky eye or a natural makeup look like I'm wearing here, so this shade is very versatile.
Echo Park - Warm peachy nude
This is my PERFECT nude. There is not a single bad thing that I can say about this shade. It reminds me a lot of MAC's "Kinda Sexy" only better.
Frick N' Frack - Rosy terracotta
I just love the name of this shade so much and I love the shade itself. This is a lip I could see myself wearing a lot in the coming season because it's darker, which I like, but not too dark for spring.
TooLips - Deepened plum brown
I was honestly a little disappointed by this shade because it was more brown than I thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful shade, but I just don't like the way brown lipsticks look on me.
Prim - Dark blackened red
I'll volunteer this shade as tribute for one of my favorite Ultra Satin shades. Maybe one of my favorite shades period. I just love this.
Lyin' King - Saturated raspberry
I feel like a mighty king in this shade, so enemies beware. This is going to be the perfect bold lip for the spring, so I'm very excited about this color.
Petit Four - Deep charcoal gray
By this point, my lips were burning. We've gone through 13 lipsticks and I had to save the best for last. This color is just awesome. Period. It's right up my dark-souled alley.
So Ultra Satin Lips? Worth it? These also retail for $6 each and are great quality. Since this a satin lip, it's not transfer proof so it will come off as you eat and drink, but they are long lasting if you're not eating or kissing bae. I find this formula to be very comfortable on the lips and very hydrating as well. I think I might like this formula more than the Ultra Matte Lips which is saying something because I am a matte lip kind of girl.
Hopefully you enjoyed this little swatch and review post. This week is lip week, so stay tuned for more swatches and reviews coming at you this week! My lips might fall off by the end of the week, but I'm doing it for the blog.
