I had promised a review of my BOXYCHARM products for January and it's now the end of February, but better late than never right?
So if you need a refresher of what this subscription box is all about and what products I got, just click right here. If not, then let's get right into it!
I was a little less than impressed with these products. I thought the brushes were OK, but I definitely prefer Morphe Brushes and won't be giving those babies up for these brushes. They get the job done, but they're nothing impressive.
The eyeshadow palette was decent. Some shadows were pigmented, but others really required a lot of building just to get good pigmentation. I also found that the shadows were really chalky and had a lot of fallout. Some fallout is obviously expected, but I don't think I should have a pound of eyeshadow on my cheek when I've finished my eye makeup. This palette was overall a no for me.
I did like the mascara, though. It made my lashes look really long and it didn't clump up as I was applying it. The only downside to this product was taking it off. Since this mascara does form tubes around your lashes, it comes off in tubes and gets stuck all over your face. I think I spend more time wiping mascara tubes off my undereye area than actually off of my eyelashes. This is something really minor, though, and won't stop me from using this mascara every now and then.
Lastly, we have the eyeliner pen. This was the one product I really loved. The line it created was so precise and it was very easy to use. The formula dries fast, so there's no issues with smearing. It's also one of the blackest liners I've used, so A+.
Alright now that we've gotten through January, let's move on to February.
If you haven't read my post with my initial thoughts of the box, you can see it here, but if you have then we're jumping right in.
So this expensive AF eye cream... NOT WORTH IT. I just thought this was very sticky and did absolutely nothing for my undereye area. I used it a couple times, but it was honestly nothing special. Maybe to some people it's worth the money to buy it, but I saw no results with this.
The perfume was alright. It has a nice scent, but I love my Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs too much to give it up. I'll definitely throw this in my bag and use it as a refresher scent... but then again, maybe not because I have a Daisy Dream rollerball in my bag too.
The Blush + Glo stick was OK as well. It was kind of difficult to apply. I tried my finger and that didn't really work and then I tried just putting the stick straight on my face, but either way the product was kind of difficult to blend out. It didn't last very long either. I used it on Monday, and as you can see in the following photo, after only a couple hours of wearing it, there was nothing left on my cheeks and my highlight is not on fleek. I'm going to stick with my regular powder blushes because those have way more pigmentation and adhere to my oily skin better.
The OFRA banana powder was actually really nice. It is a small pan which is a little disappointing, but I liked it almost as much as my Kat von D Shade + Light palette banana powder. I'll definitely use this when I travel since it goes nicely into my Z palette with my other travel blushes and such. I used the powder to set my undereye area in the above photo and you can't even tell how dark my undereye circles are.
Look at this lovely photo, courtesy of Snapchat. I was less than impressed with this mask. I definitely would pick my beloved Sephora sheet masks over this. It left my face feeling sticky, and I woke up the next morning with texture on my face. This was a hydrating mask which is probably a part of the issue since I'm not lacking in hydration. Maybe if it were geared toward blemish-prone or oily skin, it would have worked better.
Lastly, we have the sponge which I loved. It smells amazing and my skin felt so nice, albeit a little dry, after I used it in the shower. After applying some lotion, it felt like I had just used a scrub all over my body when it was just this sponge. I think this would be great to give to someone as a gift (a new one of course) because it's just so nice. Expect a sponge in your birthday gift Paige.
So hopefully you enjoyed this review! My March box should be shipping out in the next couple of weeks and I'm excited to see what's in store!
Have a warm weekend before we're hit with more cold weather!
