Sometimes I'm not sure how to start these posts because I don't want to start them all the same, but what else can I say about getting another PLAY! by Sephora box each month? So... it's March, and today I'm unboxing my March PLAY! box. Well, I already unboxed it, but I'm going to show you what's inside, so let's just end this weird intro and get started.
March's theme was "The Gleam Team," so it was all about that glow. I think the highlighting craze has died down a bit, but Sephora is trying to keep it alive with this month's box.
GLAMGLOW GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow
This GLAMGLOW moisturizer and luminizer ($49, 1.7 oz) is supposed to hydrate, blur, and enhance your complexion and give you a lit-from-within glow... definitely not my thing. Moisturizers like this never end up in my skincare or makeup routine because I'll be glowing enough later in the day since my skin can get very oily, especially as the weather starts to warm up. I'm sure this is a great product for people with dry skin, but I'm not one of those people so this "glotion" (a luminizing moisturizer) will sit in the bottom of my skincare drawer gathering dust.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Shadow Eyeshadow in I-544
Another product I don't really use: shimmer eyeshadow. This pink granite shadow ($21, 0.07 oz) has a gel-powder formula that gives off a highly saturated and iridescent color that's wearable day or night. MAKE UP FOR EVER is a makeup artist favorite, so I'm sure a lot of people were excited to get one of their popular Artist Shadows in the box this month. I'll probably give this eyeshadow a try for a night out look, but I definitely can't see myself wearing this during the daytime.
Algenist REVEAL Concentrated Luminizing Drops in Pearl
So far this box is really not for me. I try to do everything not to glow, so most of these products will be tried once and then go unused for the rest of eternity. Concentrated, serum-like luminizing drops like Algenist's ($38, 0.5 oz) have been popular among other brands such as CoverFX as well. This one in particular gives you a glow while also helping with anti-aging and color-correcting. It's also suitable for all skin types (yeah, right). Maybe I'll give these a try sometime soon.
Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast
FINALLY. A product I can get behind. I love Living Proof products and I'm already in love with this volumizing and texturizing spray ($29, 7.5 oz). I've only used it once, but it gave my hair a ton of texture and volume that lasted all day. It can also double as a dry shampoo of sorts, but I think I'll stick to using this as a volumizing and texturizing spray only.
Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter
I think this is a highlighting product from this box that I can actually use. The cream-to-powder formula ($30, 0.33 oz) is perfect in my everyday makeup routine since I don't normally use a setting powder now. It's convenient that it's in a stick formula, but I like to take my finger and grab some product then blend it on my face so I'm not getting too glowy. Either way you do it, this product will give you a radiant highlight with minimal effort.
Atelier Cologne Clémentine California Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume
First off, the postcard that came with this is very cute and makes me wish for warm weather instead of the rain we've been having the past few days. This fresh-scented perfume with notes of clementine, mandarin, and juniper berries ($130, 3.3 oz) is made with genuine citrus scents, classic ingredients, and high concentrations of essential oils. It's also a cologne/perfume that can be worn by both men and women. I think I might like this perfume because of it's citrus notes as well as other notes of star anise, Sichuan pepper, basilica, vetiver, sandalwood, and cypress.
That is all for this month's box! What did you get this month and what products are you excited to try? Let me know in the comments!
