I think I'm prone to have unhealthy obsessions with brands. Every now and then, a brand comes along that makes me feel like I need to buy every. single. piece. they release. Song of Style has become that brand for me right now. I've been religiously scouring resale apps and googling coupon codes so I can get my hands on anything SoS. Luckily I was able to find this set for sale on Poshmark and it had only been worn once. Now my only problem was to style it.
Jacket: Song of Style ($238), T-shirt: Mumford & Sons ($35), Skort: Song of Style ($158), Shoes: ZARA (similar here, $59.90), Bag: Marc Jacobs ($295), Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters (similar here, $10)
There are so many ways you can wear this set, and so many colors you can pair with it as well. At first I was thinking of going very classic with it and pairing a black tank with the skort and blue slingback heels. A structured black bag would finish it off. But then I put on my Mumford & Sons T-shirt while I was getting ready and knew this was it for me. The colors pulled in some of the threads from the skort and jacket and added a cool factor that I felt was more me than the Chanel-inspired look I first envisioned. I still had the blue shoes on my mind but then I went into my closet and saw these Zara heels that gave the Chanel look, but cooler. That was also when I grabbed my yellow aviators and Marc Jacobs bag to finish off — and brighten up — the look.
I honestly never saw myself wearing tweed. It seemed too preppy of a fabric for me, but after styling this set, I feel like I can make it completely my own and avoid looking like a Chanel runway show. Not that there's anything wrong with that — their shows are beautiful. It's just not my style and that's okay. If you feel the same way about something, I recommend giving it a try anyways and making it you, then see how you feel.
What do you think of this set? Let me know in the comments!
