To end this week, I thought I would share my nighttime skincare routine with you all! This is what works for my skin type and helps me feel clean and refreshed before bed! If you aren't into doing as many steps as I do (because I'm extra af), then just stick to the basic cleanse-tone-moisturize trio. Alright so here's my routine:
I always start my taking of my makeup. There are some face washes that are able to this for you, but I prefer to use makeup wipes to take off everything from my foundation to mascara.
My favorite makeup wipes are the Pond's Evening Soothe Wet Cleansing Towelettes because they're very gentle, especially on the eye area.
After I remove my makeup, I wash with the Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser. This is a great product for all skin types and doesn't leave my face feeling tight and dry like other cleansers I've used in the past, such as cleansers with acne-fighting ingredients. All I do is wet my face, rub the cleanser in circular motions all over my face and neck, rinse and pat dry with a clean towel.
Toning is one of the most important steps in my routine because picks up any leftover oil and really cleans out my pores. Since my skin is acne-prone, I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner since tea tree oil is a natural and effective way to help clear up blemishes. I used to use the face wash from this line as well, but I found using that and the toner together made my skin very dry. To apply this to my face, I just squirt some on a cotton pad or ball and pat on my skin focusing on areas with more acne or large pores.
Now it's time to really help clear up my skin. Like I said, tea tree oil is very effective, so I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil for spot treatment. I just pour a couple of drops onto a Q-Tip and dab on and around any blemishes on my face.
I don't have a picture of the next product because I haven't actually purchased it. I only use samples because this product is E X P E N S I V E. The Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is really, really great for helping the texture of skin and is moisturizing as well. BUT IT'S $90 FOR ONE FRICKIN' OUNCE. I might as well just sell my soul. Just do what I do and ask the girls at Sephora for a sample instead of breaking the bank for this product.
Alright, we're almost done. Next up is moisturizing. I got this Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer in a 500 point reward from Sephora, but I plan on grabbing the full size when I run out of this one. It's very thick, but super moisturizing. My skin is oily, but this very hydrating moisturizer helps my skin make less oil during the day. I think it would also be awesome for those of you with very dry skin. Just put some on your fingers and massage into the skin.
OK, two more products. This Freeze 24-7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum was a product that I received in my February BOXYCHARM. While I didn't love it at first, it has grown on me. I've started using eye creams and serums in the morning and at night and I've seen a huge difference in my under-eye circles and darkness. This eye serum really helps disguise the fact that I don't get a lot of sleep, but that's college for ya. With any eye product, I just put a small amount onto my ring finger and gently pat under the eye.
And last but not least, I swipe on some Burt's Bees Pomegranate Oil Lip Balm to make sure my lips are nice and moisturized.
That's it for my nighttime skincare routine! Happy Sunday Funday!
