Well here I am. I've made it through 20 years of life even though it feels like nothing. Every year I ask my mom if she feels old and her answer is always no, but maybe she'll feel old today. Life has been full of ups and downs, but it's also full of good outfits (and OK maybe a few bad, but mostly good.) Today, I bring you my birthday OOTD.
Today is finally the first warm day of the year. It's finally starting to feel like spring here in the Ville, so I decided it was appropriate to wear my favorite Urban Outfitters maxi skirt. This has been one of my favorite items for the past three years and I have no shame in wearing it a lot during the spring and summer. I like to switch it up sometimes and add a knot in the bottom like I did today, but I typically let it flow in its long purple perfection.
For my top, I wore my new Sleeveless Mock Neck from, you guessed it, Who What Wear for Target. This top is one of the basics that I feel like everyone needs. A classic black-and-white striped top is perfect for things like pattern mixing or toning down brighter pieces, like my skirt. Whether it's a long sleeve, t-shirt or tank top, a good striped top is a necessity.
Hallelujah, it's finally sandal season. EVERYONE CAN NOW SEE MY FOOT TAT MOM. Anyways... my shoes are black gladiator sandals from Madden Girl which I found at DSW. This is such a popular style that can be found anywhere right now. I'm hoping to eventually replace this pair with the heeled gladiator sandals from Kendall & Kylie's fashion line, but momma don't have the cash flow right now. Maybe soon.
I think doing my makeup was the hardest part of getting ready this morning because that face beat has to be #flawless. I stuck to my usual routine for my base, but added some cream highlight and blush to make the powders pop more. I wore Lumière 2 Ultra Matte Lip by KathleenLights for ColourPop and also used ColourPop's Crème Gel Liner in Get Paid (although you can't see under my layers of mascara.)
My one accessory today was my Pandora Charm bracelet which is quickly filling up. Just wanted to keep it simple today.
I got a fresh set of claws for my birthday as well and topped them off with Peach Tea from Formula X. This polish is from their March #ColorCurators line with Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere. I've really liked collecting the polishes every month and have actually been doing my nails lately which is not typical for me. It's nice to pamper myself a little bit even if it just means getting my nails done.
I can't wait to see what the next 365 days have in store for me. I'm already going to be traveling abroad to England for a semester and will be the news editor for my school paper when I return in January, but the rest of this next year is a mystery. I'm more than positive that 20 is going to be the best year yet...
But I'm still a kid at heart.
