One word: meh. I wasn't impressed by the winter collection like I thought I was going to be, but here are swatches anyways.
I will admit that I was disappointed by this color. I just thought that it didn't look that great on my nails. It also dulled and chipped really quickly. Maybe if my skin wasn't so pale, Mindy would look better on me.
Reds are some of my favorite nail colors to wear and Ace is a perfect true red shade. What I love about this shade, and the whole collection honestly, is that these shades are opaque with one coat. I still use two, but if you're looking to be economic with your nail polish, these will get the job done in a single swipe.
Though I'm not really a fan of glitter polishes, I really liked Cassiopeia. I found that it looked more brown on me than gray-black. Overall, it's a great holiday color.
Central Park is to frickin' die for. I'm absolutely in love with this deep green shade. It's a great alternative to black and is perfect for the holiday season as it's festive, but not too festive if you know what I mean. This is definitely going to be a go-to when December rolls around.
I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed by Graham. It looked like an amazing concrete shade in the photos, but looks a little meh with my skintone. I think it needs some warmer undertones to really look great on my nails, but that's just me.
Unless you're prepared to sit with your hands in a bowl of acetone for like an hour, don't even attempt to wear Casino Night.
We've finally made it to one of my favorite collection — Lips + Tips. This collection was inspired by Kathleen's collaborations with ColourPop. Each nail polish they developed coordinated with an existing lip shade that Kathleen had come out with. So let's take a look at how they did. With this collection, I'll just be going over how well the shades matched. My thoughts on formula, longevity, etc. haven't changed yet.
Point Zero was pretty close, but the nail color is a little cooler than the lip color.
In my opinion, November was probably the closest match out of all the shades they released.
This was the OG shade. Lumiere was the first shade Kathleen every released with ColourPop and how I found her channel in the first place. On the right, I'm comparing it to the original lippie stix and on the left we have Lumiere 2, an ultra matte lip. The nail polish is a pretty close match to the original lippie stix, but the UML is definitely more purple than the polish.
Alyssa was another shade that pulled a little cooler, but this time on the lips instead of the nails.
Next is Aquarius which has three different formulations to compare it to. It's most closely matched to the ultra satin lip on the far right and is a little darker than the original lippie stix (left) and ultra matte lip (center).
Last, but not least, is Taurus. I found that this matched pretty well. I think they did a great job on creating the perfect pair to the lippie stix.
If you're interested in this collection, they do still have the boxed sets available that come with all six shades and a free lip color from ColourPop. But if you're like me and already owned all the KL x ColourPop shades, it will just be a backup for one you already have.
See you on Monday for the winter collection!
