Fall is my favorite season mostly because of the colors. I love the muted shades and warmer tones that we see, so I was obviously excited for the new KL Polish collection, especially after last year's collection which is still one my favorites (I'm wearing Chloe as I'm writing this).
On September 12, they released a video promoting the fall collection and then had a one-day presale on September 13 for the full set. I purchased the full set on the pre-sale day and received it on September 15. That's what I love about KL Polish: their shipping is incredibly fast. That means I can put out swatches before the official release date of the Fall in the City collection. Individual polishes as well as the full set can be purchased today at 7 a.m. EST so I wanted to share swatches and thoughts with you on the new collection so you can decide whether you want to order all of the polishes or pick a few key shades for fall.
Warm, deep yellow with brown undertones
The KL Polish Instagram said this is a lighter sister of Caramello from their first release. It definitely shares the strong yellow undertones of the original shade. I thought this shade was going to need three coats because I could still see my nails after one coat, but it was completely opaque on two.
Deep metallic purple with black undertones
This was the shade I was most excited about from the fall launch. I love purple shades, and this one is the perfect color for a Halloween look without being too dark. Yzma honestly could've been opaque on one coat but I used two to make the color really pop. And how perfect would this shade have been for my Halloween costume three years ago when I was Yzma? RIP purple hair.
I think Jane is a great pink shade for people who don't really love pink. It's funny because Kathleen named this shade after Jane from "Jane the Virgin" which I've been binging since last week. Again, completely opaque on two coats.
Taupe shade with silver micro glitter
I love that there's a taupe shade in the collection for something a little more muted and subtle for fall. They definitely took a different approach by adding the silver glitter. It's such a fun twist on a classic shade. I thought this wasn't going to be opaque on two coats, but it was. I added a third coat, though, because my nails were slightly stained from 1435.
Kathleen always has a blue in her collections and I haven't been disappointed by one yet. This shade is similar to Cozy In There? from last year's fall collection but with a little bit of a warmer tone. I personally prefer Cozy In There? but this is a great alternative for someone who doesn't like cool-toned nail polish.
Metallic green with a gold flip
I didn't think I was going to love this shade but it's a really fun color for fall. It would be great for a Halloween look as well. This collection overall impressed me because even a shade like this was opaque after two thin coats.
What are your favorite shades from the fall collection or just your favorite fall shades in general? Let me know in the comments!
Much to my mother's dismay, I only wash my hair once a week. I started doing this about two years ago and haven't looked back since then. But this means that the products I use on my hair are really important to helping maintain semi-decent looking hair for a full seven days. Today I'm going to run through some of my haircare favorites for the last several months.
Living proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil
Naturally, your hair can start to look a little dry and brittle on the ends when you don't condition it more than once a week. If I'm not going to do a bun and my ends are looking a little ratty, I'll smooth some of this hair oil from mid-shaft to the ends of my hair to revive it. My favorite thing about this particular oil — and all Living proof products for that matter — is the smell. But it also works great as well.
IGK Trust Fund Thickening Foam
So IGK apparently doesn't make this product anymore. Trust Fund is now a scalp rebalancing treatment which is pretty much the exact opposite of this product, but they have Sunday Funday Texture Foam which I'm assuming is similar to this. I first discovered this product/line when I cut off all my hair in December (still crying about this, tbh). I didn't want my new Dakota Johnson-inspired bob to fall flat so I went on the hunt for a mousse to keep my hair voluminous and textured. This was the winner. It even gives my hair a little bit of a wave when I use it and scrunch while I blowdry. I do find, though, that this product doesn't work as well on my hair now as it did when it was shorter.
Living proof Perfect Hair Day In-Shower Styler
So I can be incredibly lazy when it comes to my hair. I mean, I only wash it once a week because it's a chore, so I need products that do the work for me. This product is the last step I take before getting out of the shower if I want to air dry my hair that day. It helps dry my hair quickly and doesn't make my hair stick flat to my head (driving with the top down on my car helps that problem as well). If you're looking for the perfect lazy girl hair product, this is it.
Living proof Full Dry Volume Blast
My holy grail volumizing spray. It does not get better than Full Dry Volume Blast. I used to be obsessed with Triple Sec 3-in-1 from Drybar, but Living proof's version is my all-time favorite. My hair is HUGE when I use this. It makes everything from ponytails to buns to curls look voluminous when I really don't have that much hair normally. If you're going to splurge on any hair product, I recommend this or the last product on the list.
Living proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
You had to know that a dry shampoo was going to be on this list as soon as I talked about my hair washing habits (or lack thereof). I've tried everything from TRESemmé to Drybar to Batiste (still a drugstore favorite), but I always come back to Living proof. I really love their full range of products and it all began with this dry shampoo. It smells great and make my hair look like it was freshly washed even if I'm on day 5. Completely worth the $23, in my opinion.
