ColourPop always seems to really nail it with their fall collections, so when I saw this year's theme, I knew I had to pick it up and try it out.
My eye look was super simple. I really wanted the focus to be on the liner. I used only three colors from the palette. I buffed 'Copy Cat' all over the lid and then did the same with 'Pass It On' but kept it tighter to the crease. On the very outer edge of my eye, I tapped on some 'In Bold' to give my eyes a little bit of definition. I finished off the eye look with the Joy Ride Crème Gel Color for winged liner, and used the pencil version on the tightline and waterline. I grabbed my tried-and-true Lash Paradise for my upper lashline and used the BFF mascara on the bottom lashline. I will say that the BFF mascara is not my favorite and one I think you should honestly pass on. I find that it smudges a lot and doesn't build very well. I'm not able to get the volume and definition I want with it, and I find this particular color doesn't show up very well. If you aren't sure if you should spend money on any of the eye products in this collection, I'd really pass on all of them except for the gel liner. I've always been a big fan of those. The palette is great as well, but if you're not in the market for one or have something similar, you can definitely skip it.
Whatever Shadow Palette ($18)
Stranger Than Diction Kit ($18)
Joy Ride Crème Gel Liner ($5.50)
Joy Ride Crème Gel Color ($6.50)
Wine O'Clock BFF Mascara ($8)
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs Super Shock Blush ($8)
Drop of a Hat Super Shock Blush ($8)
2 Cool 4 School Super Shock Blush ($8)
She's In Bold Super Shock Blush ($8)
Underclassman Super Shock Blush ($8)
Over Dramatic Super Shock Blush ($8)
Once I figured out how to best use the Super Shock Blushes, a few years ago, I really fell in love with them. And these fall colors are right up my alley. For this look I used 'Underclassman' and topped it with 'Drop of a Hat'. I've been using 'Drop of a Hat' almost every day since I got it. It's a pearlized finish which makes it the perfect mix of blush and highlight. I've really been trying to streamline my makeup routine as much as possible and 'Drop of a Hat' is really a two-in-one product for me.
I've never been a really big gloss person, but I'm glad they chose a gloss over a liquid lipstick for this fall collection. Liquid lipsticks feel a little overdone for fall at this point so I was excited for the glosses. Out of the six in the collection, I think 'Lesson Learned' and 'Crushin'' are my favorite. The others either are too light or too dark for my skintone.

Fall is upon us. It's hard to believe that it's already August, a sentiment I'm sure you've heard plenty of times already this month. But it's August already and I'm back on my PLAY! by Sephora subscription to get a small dose of monthly beauty newness. Just for a little refresher, Sephora's subscription is a $10 monthly box with five trial-sized products plus a beauty bonus. It also comes with a PLAY! pass that gets you an extra 50 points whenever you shop that month. Each box includes a pamphlet with the month's theme and information on the products as well.
This month's theme is "Beauty Sidekicks" and focuses on the essentials you need to "feel like you have superpowers," according to the card. A lot of the products featured are skincare which makes sense as we transition into fall and a new skincare routine to fit with the seasonal changes.
So let's jump into my product picks for the month!
Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss in Hot Toddy
Full size is 0.14 oz and retails for $21
Buxom is known for their plumping gloss. The shade White Russian is a cult classic. This gloss has no sparkle but does have a great shine on the lips. The tingling from the plumping is quite strong as well so if you're sensitive to that, I'd recommend staying away from this gloss. Sephora included the shade Hot Toddy in some of the PLAY! boxes this month, and it's honestly the perfect shade for me. It has that your-lips-but-better vibe. The gloss just enhanced my natural color in the best way so I'll definitely be using this again and again and probably buying the full size when I run out of the trial size.
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Priming Moisturizer
Full size is 1.7 oz and retails for $60
This oil-free moisturizer/primer is the perfect one-step product for people who want to cut down on their routine in the morning. It hydrates the skin and preps for foundation all in one so you aren't having to use two different products if you don't want to. I do worry that this will be a little too moisturizing for me and make my foundation look oily, but we'll see how it goes!
Ren Clean Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream
Full size if 1.7 oz and retails for $49
I absolutely love that they included a clean skincare product in my box. This one was selected specifically for my skin concerns that I choose in my PLAY! profile. This cream is packed with antioxidants to help protect the skin and feels so nice. I put it on and instantly my skin felt smoother and looked less red. It sunk in immediately and left me feeling hydrated — but not too hydrated — for the rest of the day. I imagine I'll be picking up the full size very soon.
Algenist GENIUS Sleeping Collagen
Full size is 2 oz and retails for $98
This was another product chosen specifically for my skin concerns. The Algenist night cream is perfect for helping with fine lines and wrinkles... things that I'm now developing due to my alarming lack of sleep. The collagen helps boost up the skin while you sleep and you recover from a day full of trying to tame a screaming baby.
Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum
Full size is 1 oz and retails for $85
Despite the little scandal Sunday Riley had (re: making employees post fake reviews on Sephora to boost the products), I'm still a big fan of their products. Their U.F.O. oil is my literal lifesaver when my skin is breaking out. This exclusive product is one that I believe is included in most boxes this month as it's a big talking point for the YouTube videos Sephora has posted on the box. I've been wanting to add a retinol to mine and Nolan's skincare routines to help combat aging so it's perfect that I received this in the box to test out before pulling the trigger on buying the full size.
Alterna Haircare CAVIAR Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter
Full size is 5.1 oz and retails for $34
Finally we have this blowout butter that was picked for my hair concerns. I will admit that I'm not overly excited about this product only because I typically don't do much to my hair. I wash it once a week, and when I do, I never heat style it. I just let it air dry. Honestly, I'm lucky if I even brush my hair after getting out of the shower. I've just developed a really low maintenance haircare routine so this product isn't a great fit for me. I will give it a try, though, the next time I was and blowdry my hair to see if it does actually help tame frizz at the top of my head where I have a bunch of baby hairs or remnants of strands Kal has tried to rip out of my head.
