Hi, it's me. Hope you haven't forgotten about me. I know I haven't forgotten about you. It's been a crazy time in NYC and it's been difficult to blog. I keep saying that I hope to get back on the blogging train, but it's hard so I'm not going to say it this time. But here's an OOTD to update you on life + let you know I'm alive and thriving.
It's actually been almost a full month since my last OOTD, but trust me when I say I've been trying my hardest to slay every day (in black, of course) even if I'm not getting my photo taken. If you've seen photos/posts from the last month, you'd know that I was working in The CF Clubhouse in SoHo for the first month of my internship. I've since moved to the CMG office in Union Square. I must say that I quite enjoy the office life. I'm not someone who can work well with an excessive amount of distraction, so the office environment works well for me. Though I do miss the fuzzy couch now that I think of it...
In terms of my actual job, I have to say that I love it. I will fully admit that I was nervous about coming to New York — I've been telling anyone and everyone for years that I wanted to come here and work for a fashion publication, but I had no real experience in a big city before. I had been to New York when I was 10, but I don't remember much so it was hard to determine whether or not I was actually going to like it here. In short, it's been everything I've dreamed of and more. It's kind of crazy to think about sometimes — I'm finally here and doing what I love. So many people told me I would never make it, but here I am making it.
So enough of the sappy-ish life update. Onto the OOTD. On Sunday, I went to the Brooklyn flea market in DUMBO with the other interns. It's definitely a place to check out if you're into vintage and antique clothing and items. I think it would be cool to shop for some antique pieces to update once I move here next summer (now accepting roommates for summer 2018). It's also a filming location for Gossip Girl. Recognize the Manhattan Bridge shot they used for Dan Humphrey's apartment? I wanted to keep things simple with both my makeup and outfit, so I grabbed this Who What Wear collection midi dress that I, thankfully, don't have to wear a bra with. It's been incredibly hot the last week, so the less clothes you can wear, the better. I obviously paired the dress with my very loved adidas NEO sneakers. I recently bought a new pair of adidas from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale because these are about at then end of their life, especially because they are my go-to walking shoe in New York.
Any guesses where the earrings came from? American Eagle Outfitters. Yeah, I just said that. AEO, low key, has great accessories. I'm also loving their jeans for fall. I got an IRL sneak peek during a Clubhouse event — I have never wanted AEO jeans so bad in my life. Highly recommend you drop in even if you're not into their brand.
I went for the true "no makeup makeup" look. All I wore was the Glossier concealer and brow gel, Sephora Collection mascara, and I barely tapped on a Glossier lipstick. I had eaten a doughnut prior to this photo so the lipstick is basically gone, but you get the idea.
We ended the day at a rooftop bar that had the perfect view of lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and event the Statue of Liberty. The drinks were exorbitantly expensive, but I just had to get one for the experience/the Insta.
It's kind of crazy that I only have a month left of my internship/NYC adventure. I can't imagine every leaving this place, but I know I'll be back soon. As my shoulder tattoos says, where there's a will, there's a way. Hope to see you guys sooner rather than later.
