Well it's been almost six months since my last favorites post, but here I am again sharing some of my monthly favorites. Now that my life is starting to calm down for a second, it's a little easier to sit down and think about all the products I've been using religiously, clothes I've been wearing on repeat, and songs I can't stop listening to. I'm sure some of these will come of no surprise to some of you who follow me on social media, but I'm still sharing anyways.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in 01 Always Red
I've been wearing this lipstick almost every day for the last month. Minimal makeup and a red lip has been my new go-to look. This red lipstick from Sephora is great because I can achieve full opacity without dipping back into the tube and it doesn't leave my lips feeling dry. It's that perfect shade of red that's flattering on everyone. I've even got my sister-in-law hooked on it.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
So I've only been using this dry shampoo for a couple of weeks, but this had replaced every dry shampoo ever for me. I've tried Chi, Batiste (a great affordable option), Drybar, Elizabeth and James (my favorite luxury haircare product) and Ouai dry shampoos, but Living Proof's option gets rid of all my grease and smells amazing. All of their products smell amazing, actually. It also gives my hair a ton of volume. This does have a little bit of a white cast, but just flip your hair upside down and blast it with cool air from your blow dryer to get rid of any lingering product that hasn't soaked into your hair.
Zara Red Mid-Heel Ankle Boots
Stella, if you're reading this and didn't see this favorite coming, I'm super disappointed in you. I've been wearing these shoes constantly, probably at least three times a week. The heel hight is perfect for walking around and the red adds a pop to my typically monochromatic looks. And they're only $40? That's a steal when some designer pairs can go for upwards of $150.
Zara High-Rise Cropped Mini Flare Jeans
I think many people will be surprised to know that I haven't worn leggings as pants once this summer. I've actually started wearing jeans again a lot, and this pair from Zara is my new go-to. I love the flared and distressed hem; they're perfect to thrown on with a T-shirt and sneakers because you still look like you tried. Prepare to see me wearing them on repeat for fall.
Is it weird to have one of my own looks be my favorite? I just really loved the outfit I wore to see Jimmy Fallon. My top is from Zara as are my favorite boots. My wide leg pants from Nordstrom Rack are insanely comfortable. The jacket is from American Eagle Outfitters and has a frayed hem. And I finished the look off with my favorite lipstick. It's just an outfit full of favorites.
Now for a lot of music favorites...
Somewhere In Between by VÉRITÉ
I first discovered the song "When You're Gone" on an Apple Music playlist curated for me and then downloaded all of VÉRITÉ's album. I was listening to it on repeat all of August. She's categorized as a pop artist on Apple Music, but VÉRITÉ is definitely more of a chill pop than the traditional pop played on the radio.
"Strip That Down" by Liam Payne
Speaking of traditional pop... I was never a One Direction fan and didn't go out of my way to listen to their music when they separated. But I can't help but dance when I hear this song. It's the perfect getting ready tune when you're preparing for a Friday or Saturday night filled with dancing.
"Sorry Not Sorry" by Demi Lovato
It's funny that I found this song during August because I felt a lot of people from high school we're starting to talk to me and ask about New York. I think a lot of people never thought I would make it, so this song goes out to them. Sorry, I'm not sorry.
"Wild Thoughts" by DJ Khaled ft. Rihanna, Bryson Tiller
This was the song of the summer and will continue to be in my rotation for September.
"Intrigued" by Nico & Vinz
I think I love the rhythm most about this song. It's also refreshing that the song doesn't focus on a woman's looks but what's below the surface. This song definitely intrigued me in August.
"Just Friends" by G-Eazy ft. phem
I believe that everyone has that one person that they will never be just friends with, that's why I feel like I relate to this song so much. Also, I just love G-Eazy and I'm happy to hear some more new music from him.
"Mi Gente" by J. Balvin, Willy William
Summer is always the best time to find some new music perfect for your Friday and Saturday nights. Erin (my bff and roommate) and I have decided that this is our going out song of this school year. Catch us playing it at our apartment every pregame.
Those are all of my favorites for August! I'm already finding some new favorites for September so I can't wait to share those with you in a few short weeks!
